Curious to know what you might know about southern Oregon, since you're a fount of historical knowledge out there.
Got to visit the grandparents this weekend, and my grandmother talked about her grandfather, Thaddeus Brockley (sp?), who traveled out to Oregon with the family and settled near the Rogue River on a 160-acre or so homestead in the late 1800's.
The homestead was in Jackson County (Medford area) at Mount Pit or Pitt which doesn't seem to exist today. Supposedly either on the Rogue, or on a creek just off of the Rogue.
Any ideas?
I know they came back to Illinois by covered wagon after some bear attacks and other hardships on the homestead. Apparently the frontier didn't sit right with them...
