Got a 9.9 Johnson out oof the trash couple months ago. Rebuilt the carb and runs like a new on. It's an 1986 model. Gonna put it on my sneakbox. I love the trash business!

I'd like to get one of those 9.9 johnsons that sit low on the transom. Been looking at them on ebay and motors 10 years older than yours are going for 4-700 bucks..guess I need to start dumpster diving! Good find.

Lee I've gpt another one but it is seized up. Bout the same age. If you want to rebuild it you can have it for the commin and gettin. It ran me about 275 or 300 for the parts to my 86 6 horse. Can't be much more for a 9.9.

Have Sean toss it out the back of the plane when he flies by next week. I'm sure the news media will narrow down my search as to where it landed. Is the head froze or the gears? That's about what I have into my 35 Johnson rebuild..and that was with finding a factory fresh shortblock on ebay that was cheaper than boring!

Its the power head that is seized up. The lower unit seems to be alright. The carb looks like 40 miles of bad road. I think it got dunked like my 6 did.

I also have a 15hp same design. It is seized up and I'm gonna rebuild it. It's got an electric starter! Motor is clean, just frozeup.

If you are interested in the 9.9 I'll hold on to it. It's not eating too much.

Part that baby out on ebay and I bet it would pay for the 15 horse rebuild...people are always looking for lower units, carbs, heads, flywheels and tiller handles..hell..Nick Wansha is looking for a tiller in the classifieds!
