This LC Grade 3 might be an unusual gun. Made in 1898 with steel barrels. James Stubbendieck, Of the LC Smith Collectors, offered "no opinion." Walt Schiessl, long time LC Smith collector and dealer, has suggested it was likely a special order pigeon gun. It has 3 inch chambers, and the wide, heavy splinter stamped 3 C. (The splinter was added to the 3 inch guns first made by Smith in the early 1920s)
It has an original 14 1/2 inch straight stock. But has original custom checkering. (checkering not seen on other Grade 3 guns.) It also has an ivory disk in the forend. The barrels are 30 inch, and choked Xfull/Xfull. The gun is in excellent condition and very tight. I am asking $1800.00. No FFl is required to get this gun. Photographs are available from slpress@macnet.com
