First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone. Please take the time to remember why we celebrate it. I am thankful for my wonderful and considerate wife this morning. My haul for 2007 is as follows:

Wildfowl Decoys by Joel Barber
Michigan Waterfowl Management by Dr Miles Pirnie, 1st ed
Nothing But Tailfeathers by Gene Hill

Looks like I'll have plenty to read for a while, though I have pretty much committed Wildfowl Decoys to memory, it saves me checking it out and returning it to the library every month!

Paul,

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. Our family celebrates Chritmas a little differently. We all pile into my sisters home for a dinner on Christmas Eve then gift giving since we all do the Christmas day church service.

My haul wasn't bad either. I got a new microfleece wader shirt, 1 doz decoys (of course they're plastic since there's not enough time left for me to learn to carve), a new graphite rod (can't all be about hunting) and a rechargable ba-zillion candle watt light for those early morning excursions.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Ed L.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you and yours have a great day, and find cause to keep the reason for the season in your hearts.

Charlie

A very MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all.
It's one of 'those' Christmas' today. My wife, son and one daughter all work today. The other daughter and son-in-law are shortly heading for Chicago to his folks, so it'll be me and the dog veg'in out. Don't worry about me, I've got plenty of cookies, fudge, and candy to tide me over.
Our son got me Gunflint Territory, one of the coffee table books (think he's ready to go back up there), Daughter gave me Duck Decoys by Tom Matus. It'll give me some direction, cause I gotta try this. Never too old to make sawdust, Ed. Other daughter gave me a half dozen John Wayne movies (for when I get frustrated with the afore mentioned gift.)
But the best gift of all... is the reason for this celebration. Thank you GOD.

George

merry christmas. Having kids i'm lucky to be able to get away and report. I got a scroll saw, was wanting a table saw but it'll be the next in line. At least I can put fancy designs on my coaming when i build a boat. hehe. :) I know there's a decoy flying in from ed gagne.

Report from TX

It has been slow but there are some cranes here. This is one of our fields this morning after I hunted another field without success. Imagine if you would hunting antleope that stand above the ground as high as a giraffee in totally flat open cowpastures. Ground cover a foot or less and I am busy chopping it lower.

The birds up at the top of the pic are black birds, the cranes flying and on the ground are obvious and there is a mix of snows but mostly specs in the flock in the background. Total crane count probably 1000 plus, specs maybe 500 in all.

Merry Christmas to all.

George,

Hope you and the pup had a good day with the left overs! Oh and that thing about the sawdust? That's the part I'm good with!

Take care,

Ed

Well my morning started at 4:30 am so I could get up and get in the kyack and go pound on the woodies. On the way to the ramp called my buddy who is in the army stationed in korea and left him a v/m I miss my friend looking forward to seeing him agin. Got out put out the deeks at 15 min till sun rise the woods came alive I heard a few woodies flying back and forth. Had one land just out of range on the outside edge of the deeks making a bunch of racket calling to my deeks only for me to have lost my wood duck call. At 0730 I poked around the creek to see if I could jump shoot the single to no avail packed up the deeks and headed back to the ramp. On the way out of the creek I got to a fork near the mouth an I heard some woodies on the other side of the fork about 20 yrds away I eased around and spun the yac quick so they would be on my left so I could shoot 6 got up 5 flew away. I shot a beautiful woodie drake. I high tailed it back to the ramp to make it to the folks place on time for the 0900 present giving for my 4 yr old nephew and 7 yr old niece. lots of smiles from them verry excited and happy.

I noticed my 13 yr old black lab tankdog was a lil antsy and then I saw he was very bloated. So 10:00 my dad and I went to the emergency vet to leave my buddy there with a possible case on pancritis the dock did not make it sound to good but I am hoping he passes what ever it is he ait that is making him sick and he does not get an infected pancris. The dock did not leave me with much hope but I have cleaned the crap out of the yard and seen some of the stuff that dog has passed and I hope he can do it one more time. The dock said know news is good news and I hope it works because the $1200 bill tapped me out of money for a lil bit.

On a better note I went and saw the grandmother and aunt and uncle of my friend in korea. They were good to see and glad I stopped by.

Well I have yet to hear anything about my tankdog so I will keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer for my him.

merry xmas everyone

Tankdog78 drop us your real name and location please. We don't bite only our dogs. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with your pal, it always is a concern with a pet at that age. Hope everything works out for him. Merry christmas.

WIll keep your pup Tankdog in our thoughts and prayers. That is a tough age for a working dog that is for sure.

We boycotted the gift part of the holiday this year and just concentrated on our family and things. Gordy did
get a few new fuzzy squeaky toys and a new mattress for his queen size futon lol. Took a couple hours to run him on pheasants today
with all of the ice we have had and snow did not even see a track in our normal spot. lots of deer tracks and one
turkey track set spoted. So gordy found himself a PRIZE ALL HANGER on his own..... see photo and Happy Holidays

George, besides the shirt. I did get a great meal. Carol goes all out. Our son had surgery and all is well. So we count our blessing and wish the same for every one else.

"Tankdog?" Hope everything goes well with you Lab.

Merry Christmas to you Dave. Great photo's of Gordy. I took the photo of the boat and Hummer on the freeway in Atlanta while we were visiting our son. The owner of the boat must have been looking for water. They have had a bit of a problem down there.

WOW...Rin Tin Tin, Roy Rogers and Sky King every Saturday morning! I think Penny his niece was about the time I started noticing girls then the minute the show was over it was grab my bat and glove and out the door I flew! I didn't have a very long attention span in those days!
