MacQuarrie Old Duck Hunters Tour Sep 9, NW Wis

Greetings to all fans of Gordon MacQuarrie and The Old Duck Hunters' Association, Inc. I will be leading a tour covering many of the sites MacQuarrie and Al Peck hunted and fished in the early days of their association on Saturday, September 9. We will make nine stops:

Shores of Yellow Lake (Danbury area) where Mac froze the night before his first duck hunt with Al and Fred.
Gus Blomberg's point on Little Bass Lake, site of that first hunt
St. Croix River, the river system of most of their bass fishing
Crotte Brook and the Repke farm- site of several partridge hunting stories
Douglas County Wildlife Area, aka the Bird Sanctuary, where dog trials were often attended and written up by MacQuarrie
Stuckey's Landing on the St. Croix flowage- site of several bass fishing trips
Minong - founded by Josiah Bond, with a plat addition by Andy Gorud. Josiah was Nancy's father, and Andy appeared in Pothole Guys- Friz Out
Beartrack Lake, possible site of Richards Lakes
Shallow Bay, and the big red cabin on the hill, Joe Hollis resort site

The tour will be car pool convoy, about 110 miles. It will be in northwest Wisconsin. It's a one day tour- we will not be going to the famous cabin or Brule River or other MacQuarrie Haunts (The Barnes Area Historical Association will be running a tour over that way next year) No cost beyond your gas, meals, lodging if necessary.
Send me an email if interested. Thanks Dave Evenson
