Maine built Duck Boat Vin numbers

Looking for the location where these numbers might be located so I can
register the boat. Mass requires a penciled stencil of the vin # from the
boat but I cannot locate them. The boat was registered in Mass by my
buddy so they are on his registration that I have. If I bring his copy of
the registration will that be good enough. This is the first time I have
registered a boat so I am not sure.
 
HIN's should be in the upper right corner of the stern. There should also be a "hidden" HIN someplace also. check under the deck as well as any other accessible area.

Which I found out makes it impossible to register in IL if you don't have not only the HIN but a title if it's never been registered anywhere. Use to to be you could just get a homemade title. As of January 2008 you have to document your build, show receipts for materials and have a local DNR offical sign a form you send to the state! When I started my build I called my local DNR officer to ask him some questions. His reply "yeah I heard something about it. I'll do some checking and get back to you" That was in March. I haven't heard a thing. I've been calling Springfield since March. I got though to a person back in April. She said she needed to ask her supervisor. I've never gotten though again! Not sure I'm going to finish the boat now. Can they make it any damn harder?

Here are the numbers ti IL DNR boat registration 1-800-382-1696 and 1-217-557-0180. If someone gets though to a human and finds out some info about the form, please let me know!

Ed thats the Blagovich administration for you. There is nobody in the DNR anymore, its just a skeleton of a department these days. Thats really too bad, that boat your building will be a nice addition to your arsenal.
