Gentlemen,

We need to start looking at possible dates for get togethers in preparations for Westlake.

We also need to start building the menu.

The show this year is March 16, 17 & 18. Yes, St. Patrick's Day is March 17.

Right now, it looks like I will not be able to make Feb. 17-18 due to Mardi Gras, but should be available most any other weekend.

Ideas? Suggestions? Thoughts?

I'm working on setting up a place in Memphis for Feb. My thought process is something like "the wives'll be much more receptive to us doing all this crap if we take them out for a nice dinner, etc.". Thought I'd try to get a hotel conference room where we can set up fordoms, etc. and everybody bring their blanks, or try to get an art school classroom/community college classroom where we can set up a saw and everything. Figure I can bring my dust collection system because it's portable. Chose Memphis because it's sort in the middle of all of us. Thoughts? Weekend suggestions? Weekend of 9-11 is out for me because I'm going to the East Carolina show. Think all of the others are open for me.
If Memphis doesn't work oout for this get together, I'll be glad to host.

Would also like to work on getting some wood shipments or bringing back a truckload from a show(Westlake).

Looking at my schedule again, I will not be able to make the first weekend in Feb. either. Sorry boys, your ol' buddy Jon is going to be at Hawk's Cay in the Florida Keys soakin' up some sunshine and catchin' a few fish.

How does the weekend of February 23, 24 & 25 work for everyone? That would leave a couple of more weekends in March to finish up any loose ends before the show and I should be on the tail end of my Mardi Gras hangover by then...

Since I hosted a weekend that weekend for the last two years, perhaps I should do it again, just to keep up traditions. How about my place that weekend? I'll keep working on Memphis, but right now the best I can do is $300 a day to rent a studio at the art college.

I would vote for your place on that weekend -- it would save money for Westlake.

So, go ahead and count me in. I'll cook something up on the Green Egg, too. Do ya'll want some more Boston Butt & BBQ sauce, or something different like a turkey?

man that stuff at sowildfest was GOOT! i won't be able to make a carving weekend anytime soon i'm afraid... too much going on with the new house

Jeff

Looks like the 17th of Feb is the only weekend I have free. I have commitments on the first weekend and continuing education on the other two.

I am going to try to host a weekend in February in Fort Wayne, IN...I know it is a long haul for you guys but as it seems there should be 5 to 10 guys from the northern states showing up as well...

i also work on sundays now as well :/ BUT.. that gives me three straight days off.. so more carving for me!

Time to prioritize, Jeff.

The house stuff can wait -- it will be there when the weekend is over.

as usuall...I gotta wait till it gets a little closer. I will make every effort to make it. MAAAAAAYYYyyy-be ,by then I might have knife or two ready(if I can get my supplier off his butt.)
Kristan , your fillet is in that order.

Whats the subject bird for westlake?

I'm thinking I should be good for just about any weekend in Feb. unless I've used up all my weekend "go" passes the wife gives out during duck season. I'm at 22 mornings of duck hunting so far and trying to accumulate 8 more from her so I can continue to say I get to hunt half of duck season every year. Maybe I'm not pushing my luck!!!

He kicked her to the curb several weeks ago, so if they are wondering, it is probably so that they can organize a lynch mob or something.
