Does anyone know where to find a marsh rat dealer or what's going on with the company. A friend of mine and me where looking to get one each. Have tried calling and e-mailing with no response. If anyone has any info that would be great. Thanks

Chester,

Check out the four rivers "teal chaser". I believe that was called the marsh rat in years past. They apparently changed the name.

Hope that helps!

I bought one straight from the company about 3 years ago. They weren't the quickest to respond to my phone calls, but they are a great company to deal with. I love the boat too. Very stable and hides well. A couple pictures of mine are on the web site.

yeah i really want one just took a little longer getting the extra funds. I was just hoping that someone knew a little more. A week ago i found a post somewhere that kinda eluded to them maybe going out of business. I hope that's not the case. What really sold us on the boats was the fact that you could get them in plastic and they were light weight. Fiberglass is just a little to questionable for what i would put it through. Too much ice and abuse where i hunt....

From their website:

Dear Customers,

Mallard Marine Corporation is closed for the 2011/2012 hunting season and for an indefinite period of time thereafter. We have come to this difficult decision after discussions with our staff and business family. The Marsh Rat, Marsh Rat Magnum and all accessories will not be in production and will not be carried at our dealers.

Mallard Marine will honor warranties on past products. We also have a limited number of H2O Marsh Rat blinds available for purchase.

For warranty, further questions or to buy a close-out blind, contact Mallard Marine Corporation at tel: (503) 771-7720, or e-mail at: mallardmarinecorp@charter.net.

Thank you for your business.

Definately look at the Four Rivers Teal Chaser, mirror image of a Marsh Rat

I had a 4 Rivers 96 model for years, it was a great little boat. Stable, very shallow draft, paddled OK, and poled well.
But it was a bit to heavy (actually just awkward) for me to keep man-handling around with my bad back.

If I was back in the market, I would strongly consider a Creek Boats M98.

Selling a special purpose leisure product that guys buy with disposable income is a tough racket, when nobody has much disposable income these days. I have friends who have been out of work for over two years. I've had 5 or 6 of my customers go out of business for lack of work and have another teetering on the edge. Maybe some enterprising guy/group will purchase the company and bring the product back. I know a few people who have Marsh Rats and love them.

I completely understand why they had to make a change. The economy just isn't the best for alot of people, myself included. But im not going to give up looking. Just have to chase it down as far as it can go. Thats just what i did with the herters decoys. Got about 8doz before i let that info out. Strait from the maker....Anyway thanks for the suggestions guys truly appreciate it.
