marsh rat in nj

I was thinking of buying a marsh rat but want to see one in person first. If any one in the new jersey area has one and could let me see it that would be great, thanks.

I have one. I'm located in Ringwood. Let me know if you would like to check it out. You may have trouble finding one for sale though. I'm pretty sure they went out if business.

thanks for the reply, I'm going on vacation tomorrow and will be back on November 13th. I will get in touch with you when I get back and we'll up a date and time. Thanks again

I have one as well Steve.

They are back in business from what David Boys told me awhile ago. He has another person running/overseeing the business from what he told me.

I had one of the first 9'6" 4 Rivers layouts, which is basically the same boat.
Very stable, very shallow draft, poled very well in 4-6" of water.
It paddled OK with a kayak paddle, not great, but OK. I wouldn't want to paddle one a couple of miles.
I used it in shallow proteccted coastal waters as a true layout and as a "marsh layout".
I would tranport it in my john boat and then paddle or walk it to the spot I was hunting. Also drug it off road ROW's a couple of times.
My only complaint was that while it did not weigh a ton, it is awkward to handle by yourself. That didn't mix well with my middle-aged back so I sold it.

If I was going to buy another dual purposee layout, I would look at the Creek Boats: http://creekboats.com/greentop_m98.htm

According to their website it appears as if they are back in business. There are two pictures of my boat in the owners photos section.
