I had one of the first 9'6" 4 Rivers layouts, which is basically the same boat.
Very stable, very shallow draft, poled very well in 4-6" of water.
It paddled OK with a kayak paddle, not great, but OK. I wouldn't want to paddle one a couple of miles.
I used it in shallow proteccted coastal waters as a true layout and as a "marsh layout".
I would tranport it in my john boat and then paddle or walk it to the spot I was hunting. Also drug it off road ROW's a couple of times.
My only complaint was that while it did not weigh a ton, it is awkward to handle by yourself. That didn't mix well with my middle-aged back so I sold it.
