Carl, the slot in the end of the shaft is for a screwdriver to aid in removing the nut. Threads are standard rh thread. I've had to us a impact wrench in the past.Broke the sheer pin on my Minn Kota Endure 50
I soaked the prop nut with penetrating oil but it will not break free. Don’t want to strip the slot at the end, seems like they could engineer that better.
Before I start cutting off the prop, any advice?
That won't help as your wrench will over power the motor Im afraid. At this point I'd get the angle grinder out and cut that prop off. I think that shear pin is 1/8" dia. I'd hit Home Depot and check their material selection for a piece of 1/8" steel stock or a long 1/8" drill bit. Lock it down against something solid and go after that nut with a breaker bar.so sites recommend using the motor in reverse to try to loosen it. Just have to be careful not to burn up the motor.
