I guess great minds think alike. There was still a little ice on the slough that I hunted this morning but it did not seem to bother the woodies. I estimate probably 50 in that one hole. That is only a small hole in a lengthy slough that probably covers about 1 mile or so. I actually hunted the wrong hole, it was full of beaver runs, so I could not wade across the short distance to set up decoys. It did not matter they wanted in around the big water oak regardless of decoys or not. Based on those being the same kind of acorns that we discussed last night, I'll bet the other holes we talked about are probably still holding Woodies. With the number of birds I saw when I scouted I bet it would be worth a try. Just a thought.
We need to hook up and maybe try some of the holes we discussed last night some time.
