mossberg 935 not firing

as of late I have been having a problem with my mossberg 935 not firing when I pull the trigger. I thought maybe its the load but I have had it not fire with 2 diferent brand shells winchester and rimington hevi-shot. I thought maybe the action was not closing but I have bee letting it slam home when I put the shell into battery I have had it not fire on the second shot before. The primers have a verry shallow dimple not a big deep punch from the firing pen. I would say about verry 7th or 8th time I pull the trigger it does not fire. I am about ready to file 13 the darn thing and go spend some dough on a nice reliable gun. I have had the gun do this clean and dirty. The gun is a year old and has maybe had about 50-75 rounds through it and has been cleaned and oiled 10 times probably trigger mech also cleaned.

Any one ever run into this problem with this gun? Any suggestions besides buy a browning or bennelli?

It's either in the firing pin or in the hammer. Does it only happen when cold? If it does, you may have too much oil that is getting thick and holding things up. There may be a burr or a wad of crud in the firing pin hole or trigger mechanism too. See if you can take the firing pin out of the bolt and check for obstruction or if it's broken.

Did you strip out the packing grease when you bought it? Maybe like lee said, or some unburnt powder keeping the face of the bolt from closing. I would definitely take the trigger out and look at the hammer for unusual wear. Hold the bolt in your hand and push the firing pin to see how far it comes out. You may have a warped pin and will feel the drag. Hope you get it fixed, I know how a lame gun can make you want to throw it away.

well I broke the gun apart and examined the firing pin.... the darn thing rusted a lil bit and the extra friction is sucking up some of the energy from the hammer I beleave. I also found another spring in the trigger mech that I had been missing while cleaning and the spring that I found is the one that propels the hammer... between the to problems the dirty spring and the little bit of rust on the pin I think I have found my culprits so I have cleaned everything with hopies #9 and it seams to be working well we will see next time I am looking down the barrel at a duck hopefully next weekend.

thanks for the help guys I have cleaned it but I have missed both of those part repeatedly I have been more focused on it feeding the second shell so I have been meticulus on the gas end but not that thourough on the firing pin/trigger mech. I hope this is it. I have been eyeing the rugger o/u with the senthetic stocks and grey nickle plating but that will have to wait till I have a 1500 sitting around to spend on a nice gun.

Glad you found the cleaning problem. If you still have light strikes on the primer, try changing ammo.Although Winchester and Remington should be 100% reliable, you will occasionally find a hard primer among them, but in your case,I believe you have solved the problem.
