i had a very very talented boat builder in southern maine make a copy of my grandfathers float- the org. was made by hiram lowell in 1895- i have it and a picture of my grandfather in it in 1918- it is an org. newburyport float- no motor- 36" wide ad the widest point- sleek- fast-

this copy is for my Son jameson- as I and my father both leared on the old newbuyport float- but alas she is too old for my son- so- after i break her in- its his-

lee- before she goes in i need to melat 100 pounds of lead and make a foward weight- so -its a bit of a wait to see hows she goes- but the old float was sleek-

take care- DLHO

Very nice looking float. I love the lines. At some point I will build a scull, just gotta find time between other boats :)

he is a great builder-

hi name is jim bastille in saco-his number is #207-284-9535. he makes all kinds of classic wooden boats
at reasonable prices.

Awesome boat Donald. For the lead , go to shops that replace tires. I can usually get quite a bit of their old tire balance weights . I then melt it down, scoop off the scrap metal clips and rubber valve stems and then pour into muffin tins for long line weights. I get it for free . Make sure to bring your own pails to dump it in.

dave- i have 2 buckets and two 33 pound weights from a witham float- its just getting them all liquid at once and doing the pour-

i was going to use a lobster cooker i have at duck camp with a metal pan and metal away- but pouring 100 pounds of hot lead- well kind scared the heck out of me-
i need to make a wooden form and have it in a bucket of beech sand then pour-

I will get it- but for now she is just a pretty thing to look at-

Thanks- Donald
