Hi folks. May 19th is the date of the 2nd Annual Sporting Clays Tournament to benefit the Wye River Upper School in Wye Mills Md. This is the high school that my sister and another lady started for kids with learning disabilities. As this is a private school, they are in constant fund raising mode with most of the money (somewhere in excess of 80%) of all funds raised going to scholarships to the individual kids so that they can attend the school. Each student gets a laptop as part of their scholarship and benefits from an extremely low student to teacher ratio.
Some of you may remember when I posted news of this event last year? In those postings I mentioned that I was carving a cedar canvasback to donate to be given away as a prize in the adult division. In addition to that, I also donated one of my flattie goldeneyes to be given away as a prize in the junior division. After I mentioned that I was going going to do that, another member of this forum donated a working black duck decoy and it too was given away as a grand prize.
This year I am already hard at work on the hollow cedar black duck I am going to donate, with a flattie of one type or another (as yet undecided) to be donated also.
The shooting event itself will be held at Pintail Point in Queenstown Md. a world class sporting clays course. For more details and directions to Pintail Point, please call Patricia McGlannan at 1-410-827-5822 or visit them on the web at www.wyeriverupperschool.org
