OK....I'm Kyle Ritter, friend of John Hitchcock(if he'll claim me) and long time lurker, occaisonall poster. I just bought a new Pyrotec Race helmet and i'd like to do a duck/goose hunting paint job on it. I'm an SCCA road racer, I took 2nd in the MIDAM series in EP 2000-2001, Rookie Driver of the yearfor 1997, only ran 1 race last year in GT-3(took 4th out of 11). Money goes for Fuel and tires,(and to buy the occasional, goldeneye decoy :)). Would anyone here be interested??

wow, 51 views, no response ,........

give it a little time,
I have (in a past life) painted a few helmets, bikes, etc., unfortunatly I no longer have the proper paints , etc. to do the job correctly.
Probably could use just about anything to paint the scene ( depending on what your looking for ) and then clear coat the daylights out of it.
I used to use automotive paints and had a buddy who would put about 6 or 7 clears coats on it for me .

either way , good luck and please post some pics.

Kyle, If you can't find a painter willing to tackle it you can always go to plan "B". That would be where you run to your local discount store and browse the paint/ decorating dept, where I'm sure you can find a decal or two of a little yellow rubber ducky. Slap on on each side of your helmet and your ready to race.

Just think of the added incentive it will provide for winning a race. Now way in heck are you gonna want to come in second place wearing that helmet!

Always a comedian in the group..:). Yeah I've thought about just using a reed grass stencil around the bottom, or something like that. Decals never work, I've tried DU logos, Ford ovals etc., I'm sure a DHBP sticker would get screwed up just as bad. The companies that paint Helmets professionally want $250 and up to do anything. Already spent $275 plus on the SA helmet and it's only legal for about 7 years. I just thought I'd ask and see if anyone would want to make a little cash painting a helmet.

Thanks,

Kyle

Have you looked into having it dipped, like a camo shotgun? A lot of the companies that do guns do others articles as well.

Actually, no I hadn't but that is a great Idea. I'll have to check around and see who does that locally. Thanks.
