NDR: Striped Bass Video

We've been having a very good spring striped bass run here in northern NJ and this past Friday was just incredible. Non-stop action on topwater plugs and livelined bunker on all larger sized bass. I was lucky enough to have my full arsenal of video equipment on the boat and was able to capture a lot of the action. It's a longer video with all the action so if you want to skip to the real good blitz footage go to around the 7:30 min mark.

I remember blitzes like that in the Kennebec River about 10 years ago. Maybe we'll see them again as those fish work their way north. Early reports from Southern Maine are that we're seeing more "normal" numbers of stripers this year, but I've been too busy chasing trout and getting the garden in to get out.

Nice video--and a pile of nice fish.

We were fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. I love duck hunting but livelining for big striped bass is right up there.

WOW. Bad day to be a menhaden in those waters!
Whats the limit on stripers? Did you get to keep any for dinner? Just one fish that size would feed the family twice!

I would have to put blitz fishing for cows and watching whales while out there above duck hunting. And I love duck hunting.

Carl it's two per person over 28" and you can keep a third with a bonus tag. We didn't keep any, all were released. The smaller fish taste better and I prefer to C&R stripers.

I'm glad to hear other guys feel that way. The smaller bass taste way better. Take a picture with the cows and send them back to breed.
