It was sealer time at the casa del Prawdzik this weekend. I'm sending a bunch of these out to Donald as is as a project. He and his son are going to paint them together. I think that is such a great idea. It got me thinking that other guys might be interested in trying the same thing. Not neccessarily decoys from me, but I bet everyone has someone near them who could make them some naked blocks all sealed up a ready to paint? I could be talked into selling a few more like this if anyone is interested. It might also make a good gift for someone who likes to paint, but not to carve.
The body on this one is made from Sitka Spruce with a red cedar bottom board. When I'm carving it, I can't tell the difference between pine and spruce. All our local wood is tight grained like that. The cedar in the head is like 60 rings per inch, and it came from a tree that was 6 feet in diameter from down near Eric Caswell.
