Judy thought this would be a nice birthday item for me. A copy of Field & Stream magazine the month and year I was born, NEAT!

Dave, that's great! Brings back memories of reading articles by Russell Annabel and Gordon McQuarrie in my grandfathers issues in the 50's. I think russell annabel might have made it into the 60's but I'm not sure. I know I really did enjoy him.

Happy birthday Dave and Jeff!
I think Judy is right, that does seem like a nice gift.

A cover painting by Lynn Bogue Hunt, articles by MacQuarrie and Havilah Babcock...great issue, that one.

Always did like Hunt's paintings...

Happy birthday, Dave. And you too, Jeff.

Twenty cents?!!! Man dat was a lot of money! My dad used to tell me they'd get a Hershey bar the size of a brick for a nickle! 1943..wasn't that when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?? Happy Birthday Dave

Hi Dave,
The Missus gave you a thoughtful gift indeed. I noticed one of the writers was Havilah Babcock. I read a book that was a compilation of his works and can tell you he was a fascinating writer. He wrote about hunting and fishing. Apparently he was a School Teacher by profession but turned his outdoor passions into money. Some people have even compared him to Nash Buckingham though I personally don't think he was as good as Mr. Nash. I refer you to "The Best of Nash Buckingham" written by George Byrd Evans. That book is one that all duck hunters and wingshooters wil enjoy. In that book you will learn of "De Shootinest Gentleman", Horace and Bo Whoop. Bo Whoop was mr Nash's 3" Burt Becker Magnum and was one of the first guns made to shoot the 3" magnum 12 guage load.

Anyway, she gave you a super gift. You are indeed a young man inthat you are only six years older than I am.

Best,
Harry

Hey you old codger, I always thought you were older than me and here I find that I've got 11 months seniority on you. From now on that will be Mr. Wasson to you.
Always good to see your posts Dave. Best to you and Judy.

Bill

Hi Bill,

It is good to hear from you, it's been awhile. Here I thought you were going to kick back and ejoys the sweet taste of retirement, but Steve tells me that you are busier now than before.

I'm pretty sure you are not missing those cold Maine boat rides with your face covered in ice. I'll drop you an email and you can reply with all that you have been up to.

Old age is measured not in years as much as it is how many miles one has on their body during those years. I got in my condition by often being rode hard and put away wet. Haha.

Good to see you on the DHBP again, I'll drop you a line.

Best,
Dave

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Harry, you know your writters. Buckingham and Babcock were both good writers. I remember reading their articles when I was a kid. I appreciate them now more than ever.
