Just got a new book that should be of interest to those of you on this page. It was written by a long time waterfowler, Dick Hutmacher. The title is The Last Dog, available from Amazon, paperback, $17.00. Dick wrote about being at an advanced age and deciding to get a young dog. I am certain that there are people on this page that have wrestled over the same decision. In Marge's and my case, when we put our old Maggie down last year, we decided due to age and health problems not to get another dog. And as I am certain you understand, there is a tremendous void in life without a dog! Best Worth

Agree. I had to put my old Block Head Chessie down 12 years ago and it was too painful to ever have to repeat that process. From time to time I do think about another dog but I just can't bring myself to do it, and like you said neither of us is getting any younger.
