New Decoys Ready for Paint...

Well today I finally got around to setting up a new computer and trying out some new photo editing software. Here are some of my latest carvings. They are now primed and ready for some Old Holland oil paint.

The Bufflehead is a take on similar pattern by Keith Mueller. Keith's work has also inspired my recent change back to oil painting. So I am looking forward to getting this one in the paint studio soon. The carving exaggerates my neck crease and gives this guy a great attitude.

The Black Duck is a larger version of the mini I carved earlier this year. Jim Romig has been so patient waiting for me to get around to getting this one completed. The shape has really got me excited about painting it, so it shouldn't be long now. As you can see the lines have been lengthened to give it an interesting flow from tip to tail.

I hope everybody had a good time in Westlake. Wish I could have been there to see all you folks. Next year for sure!

Great stuff Geoff! I appreciate the form and tradition you put into your decoys. Our forefathers would be proud... God bless!
