Picked up 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks and a Cuckoo Moran from some friends who run an organic CSA.
Cute little fuzz balls at this point.
It will be nice to have fresh eggs in 4-5 months.

I can hear the peeping of little chicks from here. :)
I like those barred chickens, they have a very old timey farm look to them. Even with just a few the eggs will add up fast.

Boy, you guys get your poults early.... We won't see any available at the Grange Co-op until April....




Over here in Thailand, most folks eat duck eggs as much as chicken eggs... I can not taste the difference between them... Like em both just fine.
 
They should be old enough and weather warm enough to put into the coup in two weeks. About the time I plant the tomatoes!
 
For little birds, they make quite a racket when excited!
The cuckoo moran's lay an egg that is a real dark chocolate brown. Pretty cool.
We hope to get two Ameraucana's before they get too big to mix. They are the ones who lay light blue eggs.
 
Have fun, Carl. Bev and I normally jump on the Mule and drive over to the neighbor's farm to get our fresh eggs. It's only 2 miles from the house.
Hey, Tom, with temps in the low 70sF here, it makes for a fun trip.

Plant tomatoes?!?!? In two weeks? We'll be lucky if we can see grass in two weeks! We generally get our garden in around May or so...Turkey season of course.

Maybe Ill go run the tiller in the garden to loosten the snow. Then I can run the snow blower and get close to the soil. Should help get the ground ready by Late May!!
Or I'll get my decoy ready for Jode"s seminar, John
