While searching the internet for photos of Lake St. Clair decoys I came across this Lake St. Clair "Flats" bird carved by Lou Tisch. Nice "work" Lou!

Jim,
Thanks much. The Flats Rig Bird is always fun to do and I've done it each year. You can see another set and it shows a step by step of Clint Taylor's Redhead as well as mine: http://www.scfwa.net/flatsrig2006.htm You can also find it by clicking on the Flats Rig 2006 link on the site.
I call "my bird" a "Near Allen" since I take one of our E. Allen birds (of the appropiate species) and cut it up into pieces and make my pattern from that. It becomes an "original tracing". ;)
The entire Flats Series of birds has been fun and a great fund raiser for the club.

:) Yup, I'm allowed ONE employee discounted bird a year. And then, what do I do, I cut it up & copy it. ;) Another 60 years and I'll have carved every one of our birds..........as long as we don't introduce anything new.

Paul,

What do you want to bet that Lou gave himself an "employee discount"?
