NJ thunder storm lastnight

Lastnight we had a crazy thunder storm. It was by far the worst wind and lightning I have ever seen around here. This tree was uprooted and took half the sidewalk with it. Around the corner another tree went down on a car. The car still had temp tags on it. A tree hit the power lines and half of the shore town I live in doesn't have power. I hope they get the power back on soon or its gonna be a hot day without air
Conditioning.

I only had a few branches down at my house. I heard Atlantic county got it a lot worse. A lot of power outages around there.

Hey Chirs, what a storm is right. We lost power for a few hours last night here in Camden County. My parents though are still without power as of now. They're on the border of Gloucester and Cumberland. How about you, have you had any luck having your power turned back on?

Thats what they were told. And my sister in law heard that Ocean City is to be w/o power for most of the week also. That's a huge lose of revenue for the town and it's stores, resturants, hotels, etc. All from one little thunder storm.

Where I live we lost power from 1am that night to 9am the next day. My mother had to come stay at my house. She lives in EHT and her power is out til the 3rd or 4th they say. My girlfriends. Parents live in blackwood and they only lost power for a few hours. All there power lines are run underground. Talking to kevin stupp he said he is without power and those big power lines that run through the woods the 65 ft metal poles is what went down. I could see fixing that taking a few days. Hope everyone is doing ok. Its gonna be a hot one today.stay cool

We lost power here in the franklinville area sat night and most of the day sat. Now we don't have any Comcast cable or Internet. Anyone else experiencing this?

In the atlantic area we have all power and cable. My mom lives in the EHT/somers point area and they don't have any power at all. Its hit or miss in some places. I saw on the news that it hit Ohio pretty bad. The news was saying that a 2nd storm was gonna hit lastnight but thank god it didn't.

Talked to Jode today and he went and bought one of those generators from Cabelas that I recommended awhile back and he is glad that he did. He most likely will be without power till Friday. That generator is running his fridge, freezer, well pump and little AC unit in Living Room. Glad that it worked out for him

Good call. I know the family that owns a local hardware store in EHT. They had 100 generators delivered on Friday at 2pm by 5pm they sold 80 of them. The other 20 were gone Sat morning 30min after they opened There was a Line waiting for them to Open

The state of affairs right now is ridiculous , no power for last four days, and will be out for at least four more. Running the bare essentials with backup power but fuel bill is putting a hurting on. Lots of neighbors just up and left. Posting this from mickey d's while picking up some food for the kids.

Ps for cable and phones out to for those who asked

Still without power since 1:00 Saturday morning. There were originally over 260,000 homes and bussiness without power. That's down to 86,000 as of tonight. The problem is there are SO MANY TREES DOWN across wire, hundreds of poles snapped. At last report there were still over 2,600 different breaks in the wire. The Cumberland / Salem border areas then on through to Atlantic counties had sustained winds over 84mph (hurricane force). We didn't get a ton of rain, but its worse than last summer's hurricane. Thank God for the generator. We have our well pump, water heater, fridge, big freezer, TV, DVD, a few lights and (AMEN) a 12,000 btu window AC. So I think we'll be fine. As of 8:00 tonight our cable is back on, but no electric....Go figure!

Good luck to everyone else and hope we all get back to normal soon.

Kevin, several years ago a hurricane knocked out power in my area(Bham, AL) for 6-7 days. Cable never went out! I watched tv with the help of an inverter and a boat battery. Strange huh?

Sorry to hear it guys, we had 2 one week outages last fall and I know that it would hurt more in the middle of summer.

Whatever you do don't order from electricgeneratorsdirect.com during an outage. They collect orders during outages and freight (as in via rail) the units in batches in shipping containers once the containers are filled, so it is a far cry from the 2 day shipping they advertise (don't ask me how I know that).
