Yahoo! There were in fact keepers in LIS! All four were caught, however, no need to waste my fuel this week.

Very nice Todd, Were you jigging for em?? Thats my favorite way=bucktail with fluke belly and live killie or FRESH sandeel

No Charlie, fluke balls with fluke rigs on droppers above - all the fish came on deadsticked rods on the dropper. I need to learn how to jig, I've never done well with it.

Ha, thanks to my donation to the general fund, they will be stocking the sound with fluke again next week, so you will have your chance.

Looks like time well spent Tod. After looking at the plate picture, I've got a hankering for a perch or walleye sandwich.... MMMmmmm.

Todd,
your wife is welcome in the boat up here any time if she can find fluke like that one! It is a killer on the kids to keep flopping back 18 inchers!

Looks like the Oysters are doing just fine.

That is some serious work boat finish on that rig..........

Hope the stockies are all over 19.5". ;-))

I hope to get into some flounder this weekend as well...but after dark.

For one, its slightly less hot than Hell N' Blazes down here after sunset...

For two, I prefer to stick 'em with a Gig

Had to do a double take...thought Dani had taken a trip to CT.

Nice fluke, Tod. Hank Shaw is coming out here this weekend to do some flounder fishing with me. We've been getting them pretty good here in Gloucester. What is your recipe for fried flounder? I've been using the Goyo fine corn meal, a little flour, some panko, and an egg or milk wash. Goes great with a nice fresh roll and homemade tartar and lemon.

Great photos. Your boy is getting big, eh?

Cool stuff. I've always figured that Jen was the fish producer and this confirms it. Now I'm hungry for fried fish. Mmmmmmm.... that looks good. Some butter drenched new potatoes would go so well with that. Wish my fishing trip had gone as well.

Jen was on fire, I was hoping she would take pity on my and fill my limit too, but the bite died before that could happen. As far as workboat finish, I do have teak brightwork too :).

Nate, I use flour with masa harina as a breading too, I like it. This breading is panko and shredded pecorino romano (3:1 panko to cheese) with fresh oregano, but any herb is good. Rub fillets in crushed garlic, dip in egg, in breading, in egg, in breading, into hot light oil. Because of the cheese, it is prone to burning, but it is good. Nice rustic crunch for thick fillets. So many good things out there, nothing better than a mess of fluke... well, maybe a mess of pheasant... well maybe a mess of clams... well maybe a mess of... you get the point :).

Gus is getting big. He "only" caught a short fluke and a sea robin (it is good they grunt), so he was pretty disappointed. He would rather talk about fishing than actually do it, I think he is ready for the internet chat forums - ha ha.

I was thinking about you the other day, Gus and I were up at my folk's cottage in NY and the first day we were there, WOW, the perch were biting like I've never seen them. Perch after perch after perch. You just has to have in line in, minnow or artificial. Then like a switch, they shut off - pretty much right when I said, I need to get some of these in the freezer. It was a slow pick to get a nice dinner once I started trying - duh. Gotta make hay... you would think I know that lesson.

Our potatoes are looking really good this year, I'm surprised Jen hasn't had her hand in there fishing around yet (she probably has and hasn't told me).

I really want to gig flounder someday, I don't know anyonw who does it up here, but it sounds like it would be fun.

Hey Tod, if you are ever in the south Texas coastal area I bet I could get you on some giggin! My buddy does it and we just took my father out last week while he was here visiting. Its something you have to do at least once in your life. Heres a few pics of Dans boat, and the nine we gigged nothing like those big ones you got but still taisty. Our minimum is only 14 inches here

The only thing that would have made that ship full of oysters better would have been one following it full of tobasco sauce!

Now that right there is the shit, I'd love to do it. Thanks for posting that up, that is reall cool. Got any pics of your "terminal tackle"? I'd love to see it.

I'll take a pic of the giggs next time I see him. Basically there about 8 foot hollow pieces of aluminum with a flat piece welded to the end with 4 big nailes welded to them. He used to do it comercially and these were carry overs from his comercial stuff. They work well cause when the boats going and you stab one you can stop the momentum of the boat without snapping the pole. I'm glad you like pics, I wasnt trying to hyjack your thread, just show how we do it down here. Take care
John
