Up at 5:00, launch boat, motor runs perfect (after a $250 repair bill from the mechanic, sticky float due to ice, plastic tanks and whatnot...causing two cancelled hunts)
crash through a bunch of 3 foot waves and a few lots bigger, cuss the weatherman/NOAA for the wrong wind forecast (it's tough out here with a south wind, waves get to roll up for 12 miles before they hit the shallow coast and make trouble for duck hunters), forgive my gunning buddy for leaving his coat and cell phone on the kitchen counter, set up the layout boat and 6 dozen decoys.
See 1 canvasback, 20 buffleheads, and 5 scaup.
Shoot 1 juvie lesser scaup and one drake bufflehead. Hans gets an easy retrieve. Pick up everything and head back to the office. Did my Christmas camera arrive yet? No...
Question: Is it worth it?
Answer: You betcha!
Happy Holidays,
Dave
