Older Dave Clark Estuary - Paint Removal Help

Hoping someone might be able to give some tips on removing paint from the upper deck of an older Dave Clark Estuary boat. Has many layers of paint with lots of pealing. Under the paint there appears to be some kind of textured fiber mate of some kind. Not sure what that is at all. Lots of paint on all of the brass fittings as well and would like to get them safely cleaned up as well. Any help, tips or insight will be greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest contacting Dave Clark, but I'd do it quickly.

Tel: (401) 294-3939 <- this ph# will be cut off in early April 2022. I'll be taking a sabbatical for at least 2 years.

The phone (401 294-3939) will be turned off in early April 2022. But I will continue to have my email address (canvasbacks@gmail.com) although I am not sure how much I will look at it.

I appreciate all the great customers that I've had over the years. It's been a pleasure serving everyone.

For anyone interested in my plans, I'll be doing the Great Loop with my wife in our boat starting in June of 2022.

Dave, I recently bought a used Estuary. So I gave David a Call. Your information about David is not true. David is building several boats and is not going
on a sabbatical. Where on his web page does it state this?

This is the info posted on the web, which is the info the public is seeing. Can't confirm beyond that. Canvasbacks Sail Loft and Canvas Shop

That looks like canvasbacks.biz

I believe Dave Clarks site is http://www.canvasbacks.net/ which looks to be up and running fine.

BTW. the link to that guy Dan's (who owns Canvasbacks sail loft) trip blog website shows the 'great loop' he is doing with his wife.... it looks like a really cool trip

Ahhhhh. I didn't see that on the FB page screen grab, my bad. Looks like someone needs to correct their page.

All these different URL domains and ways of putting together names can cause such confusion. Even for my business, we thought we had a fairly unique name.... until we found out there were probably a hundred other businesses with incredibly similar names... and website URLs.

All,

Dave?s NEW Website is: www.EstuaryBoats.com

All contact info, upcoming projects, used boat sales, new models and updates will be posted there

Anthony hit the nail on the head. Dave sold the Sail Loft just about 8 years ago and the CHOWDER HEAD that bought it ran it into the ground in 5 years.
Dave got his molds back from the Duck Boss when he sold the loft. He has now built 103 boats with 5 to do as of now for this coming season.
When the new owner of the sail loft left 2 years ago and Dave went back to that loft to train someone to stay there but with covd19 Dave retired from sails and canvas in August of 2021. He now makes the decoy bags, builds and restores duck boats.
Give him a call.
Phil
