Decided to take the dog and go for a ride today down in some of my favorite ducking haunts. Put a few crablines in the boat too, just for the heck of it.

One of my favorite gunning spots.




Nice strech of Water. Striped bass and Perch were everywhere in this creek.




I have alway been a fan of usig real grass for camo. This is my base layer and will add more the next few times out.

While my 12 year old gunning partner enjoyed a nap...........




..........I managed to catch about a dozen and a half tasty blue claws. These guys will be in the mud soon, so I figured I ought to get a few while they are still active.




Saw quite a few ducks, but they were very spread out due to high water and light winds.

Just about 3 weeks and counting here til our in Southern NJ opener and I am as excited as ever!

Jode, sounds like a great day to me! Thanks for posing that up, I really enjoyed it. I love the blue claws, good grub right there - enjoy them.

I spent the day with jack stands and rusty bolts, so you should consider yourself lucky.

that shot of your dog is a great one. You sure have a very incredible waterfront down there. The Blues are a treat when you can get them. That looks like a real meal.
The wait will be over soon and the real fun will start. Looks like the boat is just about dialed in.

I don't know whether to thank you for posting those pictures or chastise you. Reason being, like Todd, I took the day off only to work around home. :>( :>(

It does look like you have some dandy hunting and fishing spots. I think I may be a bit jealous. Nice basket of crabs you got there.

It is an older Schellinger high boat.

When I talked to Roy at Tuckerton, he said it was on of the first years he made the high boats. '85 or '86.

It has a secret bow compartment for all the outlaw gunners out there , LOL.

Also is uses a 15" transom rather than the 20" for the newer High boats. Perfect for the 3cyl. yammie I had laying around.

I like it alot and is backed up with a lifetime (Roys) warranty ;>)
 
Thanks Dave, to tell the truth I needed a day out. Have not had a day off in two months.

We are fortunate in NJ to have alot of nice marsh on both sides of the state. I spent all day today and barely scratched the surface of my favorite WMA.

Belle doesn't owe me a thing. She's done all I can ask and more. Hoping for a few more good years, as I truly enjoy her company.

We have great crabbing in the summer, it's winding down now..........A decent take is uasually at least a bushel. Just pickin at stragglers today.

Thanks for the great pics. Those boats look great all grassed up. I'm going to miss the SZ opener this year. Got a wedding in OBX. Hopefully I'll catch some fish down there to make up for it. Good luck this season and stay safe. Luke
 
That boat looks great with the real grass on it. It's making me wonder how my new raffia grass will look. I was always a real grass camo guy myself till this year. I went to tuckerton myself but didn't see any schellingers there. Must have missed him somehow. Great looking spot as well. Looks like you could possibly get some woodies in there
 
Matt, The raffia looks good later in the season when the marsh browns up. Early season I like more green.

Roy wasn't set up at the show just walking around checking out the sights.........
