Overly ambitious sewing project

Several months ago my child Bridget asked for and received a sewing machine , this got me thinking...
Two week?s ago my boat cover I use for trailering bit the dust, rather than going to Walmart for another one I decided that making my own would be fun! So after a quick lesson from Bridget I was off to Harbor Freight for a heavy tarp and Joanns for big needles and the heaviest thread they had in stock. Honestly I figured it would be a train wreck but it turned out surprisingly well. I had my son help hold the tarp down while I marked the pieces with a sharpie... cut sew, repeat. It took about 8 hours and is very far from professional but has held up pretty well over a 200 mile round trip on the highway and another 120 on more local roads.
I?d love to say that leaving the back open was deliberate but I just ran out of energy for this project. It does make getting into the boat easy while the cover is on

Congrats for taking the leap and trying something completely new. When working on my own boats there were many times I wish I knew how to sew. You did good.

Thank you Eric, the only real problem with a reasonably successful project is now I want a heavy duty machine to do other projects out of cordura lol.
