Tell John that Boo-Boo is alive, well and back to his old tricks of following the sound/vibrations of teh ATV as I drive over the dam. From any spot on the pond you'll see his high-speed wake heading toward you. He was very happy with the 2 dozen nightcrawlers I get him each week at Wal-Mart. He went right back to eating them out of my hand, just like we were old friends. You can't tell me that a large mouth bass does not have a perfect memory.
More tukeys around here this year than ever and many more long beards than normal. One vinyard owner near me has threatened to sue the State Fish & Wildlife Dept. if they don't do something abouut the turkeys destroying his gtape crops each year. He put up 10' fences and they just fly over it. They told him he could shoot all he wanted and he can't begin to kill them all. It's becoming a real problem locally for the vinyard owners, The F&W first stocked the turkeys in this area in 1991 and they have basically over run the area.
They have increased the bag limit to 3 Toms in the sprin as well as 1 bird of either sex in the fall season and it's not making a dent in the growing population. I really enjoy seeing the birds live and nest here on our place, but that view is not popular with everyone. You know you live out in the woods when we can legally take 6 turkey, 4 deer, 2 elk and 6 black bear a year on our place. This is one of the reasons I like hunting them with the old smoke poles of yesteryear, make's it a bit more of a challenge. (trying to see if you hit anything through all that smoke :^)
Best,
Dave
