Pet Insurance

I'm pleased to announce that I will be getting my first hunting dog, a Pudelpointer. I'm very excited and I will post some pictures when I get him a month from now. In the mean time, I am trying to prepare as much as I can. I've heard people talk about pet insurance and am wondering if any of you have it. It sounded rediculous to me at first, but then I thought about how much some of the possible injuries could be to fix. Any advice on this would help as I don't know if this is a scam or if its for real. Thanks.

Brian,
like any insurance read the policy carefully, but after watching my buddy spend over a grand on his new setter with the vet to try and cure some skin and ear stuff it looks like a good idea. Hope someone here has more info on who has good coverage and rates. Good luck.

Pudelpointers have a great reputation,plus you don't see them that often.
When I got my german wirehair pointer I thought about heath insurance I believe the policy was 30.00 a month. I decided to open up a savings account for him and have $20 a paycheck automatic deposited in it . That was 21 months ago so I got close to a 1000 bucks saved so far and I never missed the $20 -out of sight out of mind . You got a to be disciplined- had a couple of difficult moments at gun show lately but I was strong! I figured I would be able to pay for general maintenance ,shots, boosters, front line ,heart worm medicines up front Then later down the line as he gets older if heart issues arise I have a nest egg to take care of them or to replace him post some photo when you get him or her
