Had the visitors back on the pond, our geese have not hatched yet. I grabed the Minolta 5D no tripod and the 300mm f/4 and headed down in my slippers and no coat... brrrrrrrrrrrrrr lil chilly this morning. I was a little affraid they were going to chase the goose off her tub and they were swimming at it before I got to the waters edge. Once they saw me they backed off and I shot about 60 frames of them. My main goal was an EXIT photo serries. Before flight they get a lil vocal and bob their heads and I got the pics I wanted. Was still a bit dark but you cant have everything I guess..... The Animated photo res is lower than the stills. I wont post the stills here I will add a link latter when I get them online, if you want to go look. Not to bad for hand held that lens is my favorite!

I've got DSL--it took about a minute before it loaded fully. I just mentioned that because folks should know to wait a bit for the animation to kick in.

Swans sure are nice to see now and then to hear the clown horns commin in and watchin thoes BIG feet hit the water is a sight.
Ive got some old pics of different ones from 5 years back Ill post latter on you I got in about 6 feet from the old man and he was IMPRESSIVE!

Not anywhere near as good a quality as Daves, but here's a picture of a swan I saw down here in Jacksonville, at the interstate overpasses/connectors. Steve pointed out that it was a mute swan. I didn't know that swans made it down this far south...but I think mute swans are not native to the US, so maybe it was someones' pet.

The pair on the nest got neighbors last night, a pair with 7 lil ones moved in from a pond about a 1/3 mile away.
The ganders did not take long to GO AT IT! These were shot from 120 yards so not the best but I was amazed
at the violence of these 2 guys. I was in AWE when he 1st attacked and forgot to press the shutter so I missed
the first enital hit.

she is still sitting..... Will hope to get some pics of the chicks leaving the tub that will be
a hit or miss....

Have a good weekend

Dave

Great shots Dave. I got to see ganders go at it once, no camera. They really go at it. I don't know how many people get to see that, but getting it on camera is special. Pete
