Photos from this morning

I had plenty of ducks again this morning. A very nice flock of Wigeon flew over my head, whistling the whole way while I was changing my CF card. And plenty of new teal photos but nothing really new. But these were the fun photos for the day.

My favorite, a Wood Stork, rather rare and endangered.

Now that is sweet, it just isn't every day you get the double inset, landing band, blow up shot. Nice Work Hitch. BTW what kind of camera and lens were you using. Ha

Thank you Hitch.
That wood stork is awesome... and so are the otters... and the mottled ducks....
Looking at that nice warm marsh might make the nasty winter weather coming tomorrow a little more bearable.

Perfect John! I wonder how those otters cope with the gators? Could you imagine how you'd feel if ya happened to make a double on those mottled ducks during the season and find out that they were BOTH banded???? Just getting them in your camera lens has to be a rare event. Amazing!

Hitch:
That shot of the pair of mottle ducks should be titled "gear up, and moving". Thanks for making a snow bound morning bright.

Thanks guys,

There were a bunch of Mottles around yesterday, but this pair kept coming back. I saw the flash on the drake when they were about to land on my head, right before I shot the first photo of the two. The photo at a distance where you can see the bands is from earlier in the morning. I've coined the term "Photo Hunt" for this. Scott will be offering photo hunts next season. You setup just as if you were hunting, even putting out decoys some times. Then you hide in the layout boat to get the low camera angles, cover up with palm fronds and start shootin. I'm goin back out this afternoon.
