I have used the the Kara as as a layout boat since Bourbon and I built it in 99. I sold it to my friend Duffy a few years ago and we decided to use the parts from an old pvc boat blind to make a pop up blind on the Kara. The intention is to make it look like a little shale rock island that Champlain has so many of.
the pvc sleeves and can be pinned at various levels
The cloth is attached with snaps to the kara and zip screwed to the pvc
the cover velcros on top of the pvc when you get ready to hunt
Here the Kara is directly behind the boat and we ran the tow line under the kara by making a loop in the end of the tow line and hooking the loop on the cleats with the line directly under the kara to give the bow some lift. My 12 aquapod is behind the kara and it has a nice little skeg that helps keep everything tracking behind the tow boat. The Kara by itself will wag back and forth.
I forgot to put a little weight in the bow of the aquapod so the bow sticks out of the water a little. The Kara is in the background. Bourbon is sitting up in the pod and Duffy is sitting up in the Kara.
