Portable GPS

Guys,

I don't know if this thread was already discussed but here goes anyway. I was thinking about picking up a portable gps for the truck and have no clue as to what is on the market. I know the one feature that I would like is that it be bluetooth compatible so I can use it with my cellphone.

Any recommendations - good, bad. or ugly?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Garmin Etrex Legend (Blue one), not a bad GPS for my uses, I bought it about three years ago. It has 8MB internal memory so I can load Garmin maps into it. No Bluetooth though, actually I don't think it has any teeth at all Ba Ha Ha. Garmin makes a good GPS just the same though. This is my second one I sold the first which was the lower end yellow model (not sure of the name). Another feature that is real handy is the ability to conect your GPS to a laptop and have real time positional information displayed on a map on your laptop, say while you are driving in your car. My buddy even strapped a latop with GPS to the front rack of his quad one time. Anyway you won't regret getting one and I'm willing to bet that after a while you'll be saying; How did I ever get along with out it. Real handy for navigating back to a favorite spot prior to daylight.

Mike, I'll be watching this one. There are a couple of cellphones out there I'm told. I think the Blackberry and treo700. I'm looking for the same thing but I want something I can use with my Bluetooth equiped Palm T/X and cellphone. I looked at a cellphone/pocket PC combo last night at Verizon for just this reason. Just not ready to give upthe Palm T/X yet.

Good luck.

Maybe I should be more specific. I'm looking for a gps to leave in a vehicle (my truck or the wife's mini-van). We bought a camper last year and plan on doing some vacations out of state over the next several years. Will be nice to have for that or finding alternate routes home. Our turnpike here has several accidents a month and it takes forever to get home trying to find an alternate route. I'd like the bluetooth feature for the hands free option. My bluetooth headpiece broke and I'm not paying the $ for a new one.

I did some preliminary research today and found the Garmin nuvi 360 and TomTom GO 510 to be pretty well recommended.

Thanks again.

I bought my wife the Garmin c330 for Christmas and she loves it.
It does not however have the Bluetooth. The next model up does.
The funny thing is the best price i found was Target Online. It was about 100.00 cheaper than anywhere else.
I had no idea until then that Target even had online sales.
