Pride and joy...

Pat,

Good for Sarah. One of the things I like about this site is the obvious joy and pride everyone has in their kids and their willingness to share it. I wish Sarah nothing but the best. Please sign me up as a donut tester also. :)

My best,

Don

Congratulations Pat! You must be very proud.

There is nothing quite like having a chef in the family. My youngest chose that as his career as well. It certainly makes having family get togethers just that much better. He won't let anyone else cook. LOL

What a wonderful time in life. I wish Sarah nothing but the best. I envy you knowing that you will be the #1 taste tester for all of her new creations. Thanks for sharing.

Outstanding, good for her! I am sure that your very proud of her. And what a bonus you will have after she graduates....free pastries!

Congratulations Pat,

A true duck hunters dream, you'll be the envy of the guys in the blind!!

Congrats Pat, She is headed down a very rewarding path. My son Chris graduated from Northwood University with a major in Hotel/restrurant mangement and is a fantastic Chef. He actually works for GFS and is in charge of the sales people in the greater Grand Rapids area. The food business has many avenues. AND the rewards for us parents are great and varied.....one look at my body shape will tell you that.

Very cool Pat. I love hearing about people that identify early on a career path they have a passion for. Congratulations for both of you.

Good luck to Sarah

and may your belt need loosening a couple of notches....just all those yummy things to eat...

That is wonderful--a young person wh knows WHAT she wants do do--God bless her on her endeavor, which is one involving lots of tedious work--kinda like being a decoy maker, eh, pop?
By her smile, she is going to have a blast learning the culinary arts.

Congrats to your daughter, Pat. After spending 20 years in a kitchen, I made a move to the supplier side of chefs, working for a sustainable farm that supplies specialty produce to many of the top chefs across the country (and internationally). We've sent some goodies to Kendall College in the past and have quite a few account in and around Chi-town. She won't need to travel too far to find some great pastry chefs to work under once she's finished at Kendall, with the likes of Della Gossett (Charlie Trotter's), Gale Gand (Tru), Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate) in town. Best of luck to her...

Pat,
That is awesome! My oldest who is 16 wants to go to the CIA. He already is cutting his teeth in catering. Tell her to be fearless and creative! They call it Culinary Arts for a reason!!! I expect to see a full body decoy cake soon!!!!

Congrats to both you and Sarah. I wish her the best in her new endeavor. Oh and tell her I'm partial to well made "bear claws". :>) (just in case she needs another tester)
