Problem with my dog.

Hey all,
i know its not exactly a hunting question but my i got to figure something out. My 2 year old yellow lab doesnt chew her food. She eats whatever i give her as fast as she can. she acts as if, if she doesnt hurry up shes going to miss something. And that leads to her vomiting every now and then which is no fun for anyone. So do you guys have any tricks to get a dog to take her time eating? Let me know if you guys have ever had this problem.
Thanks

My 4 year old grew out of it.

They do make a dog dish with dowels sticking up and one that is divided into section. It is to prevent the dog from eating so fast. Not sure if it would work but a quick google search will get you pictures of them.

As a trainer I had several dogs that "inhaled" their food and at times would choke on it. To counter it I would use a large bowl, put a smaller OVERTURNED bowl inside and then put the food in around that. They still tried to inhale but they could only get smaller bits as they worked their way around the rim of the smaller bowl to get the food. Similar to the rocks and dowel ideas. For me though I think 2 of the dogs I had would have tried eating the rocks or poked themselves with the dowel.

2nd option of course if she eats at designated times is to just drop small amounts into the bowl as she feeds. I would also check some of the pet supply stores and catalogs. I'm willing to bet someone makes a device that drops a specific amount of food into a bowl as the dog manipulates some lever or button. idea as hand feeding except you don't have to stand their while they feed. just fill and leave.

just put water in the dry food so it just floats. It will slow her right down, like bobbing for apples.

3 of our 9 labs nibble their food , the other 6 inhale it like a hoover vacuum cleaner.
Ive never been able to find away to slow them down yet.

I tried adding water to her food dish to make it float and i don't know if it was out of protest or just an accident but after one sniff she stuck her paw in the bowl and knocked it over and then ate the food off the floor. I dont want to try the rocks cuz im pretty sure she'd eat them. so this morning i broke up her meal into 2 smaller portions. she did slow down it's just a little more time consumning on my part. so i'll try this for a while. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Just toss the food on the floor. Kodiak has been more interested in playing then eating lately but if I pour the food on the floor of his crate he'll eat right away. I guess its more fun. One of my X's old dogs ate to fast and they toss the food on the kitchen floor in the corner. Slowed her down quite a bit.

I had that problem with a dog I had some years back.I took an old hopper type feeder,my wife used for
our cat,put a stainless screw through the bowl into a piece of plywood so he couldn't knock it over.
I duct taped a piece of plastic inside the hopper to slow things down.' Just dumped his food in the
hopper and let him wait for it.Worked for me.
