Had my first big scare with Caliber (my super pup) She got into a bag of semi sweet chocolate and ate the whole thing. Had too take her too the emergency 24 hour vet her heart was racing and she couldnt sit still then there was the massive projectile vomiting of pure chocolate.
Vet induced further vomitting gave her charcoal too help flush her out and a sedative too bring heart rate back too normal .Now she is doin fine .
My question is what kind of first aid kit should i put together for her ? Im thinking of somthing for field and another kit for the house .Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I don't carry much, but I do have a little kit of Vet Wrap (self adhesive crepe), krazy glue, and I used to carry a needle and thread but I can't remember how to do the knot anymore so I'll just use glue if I have to. MOstly I find my dogs impale themselves on beaver sticks or slash their feet on stuff. Not regularily, but it has happened.

It will be interesting to see what else people who know about this kind of stuff reccommend.

Glad to see your pup will be ok.

This is what I can think of that I have in my gun dog first aid kit.

Roll of Vet wrap, as Mike mentioned already.
low dose, lightly coated aspirin tablets.
Iodine.
EMT gel.
Antibiotic eye flush drops. (from your Vet)
Small bottle of rubbing alcohol.
Pepto Bismol tablets.
small safety scissors.

My friend's lab is being operated right this moment. The Lab is a shop dog (and loved by all). People bring Buster food all day, and one generous chap brought old Buster a cow bone (the type they sell at a pet store). Buster ate a great deal of it and the splinters and bone didn't pass. They are opening up his stomach, etc.

One good source is the American Red Cross. I am on a canine search and rescue team and we are required to take canine first aid every year. This short class is taught at our local Red Cross. Godd Luck with your pup.

im gonna get in touch with my red cross thanks for the tip between the vet and there im sure ill put together a good kit ill post results thanks for your help
