Cassie started giving birth around 12:30 a.m.. Within an hour three pups were squirming and squeeling pushing there way back under her belly looking for a warm dark place. Not sure how many she's carrying. Gonna be a long night..........

1:58 a.m. pup #4 arrived.
2:08 a.m. pup #5 arrived.
2:38 a.m. pup #6 arrived.
2:48 a.m. pup #7 arrived.
3:16 a.m. pup #8 arrived.
3:56 a.m. pup #9 arrived.
4:11 a.m. pup #10 arrived.
4:30 a.m. pup #11 arrived.
5:03 a.m. pup #12 arrived. Jeeez, how many is she going to squeeeze out?

Okay, two hours and no more pups. Looks like she is done. What a night. She's in the garage with the cleaned up pups acting like she's done this before and it's easy. Michelle and I are about wiped out with almost no sleep. Headed to the ball park soon. Thomas has a game today.

Update! Listen to the sex distribution. Eight female, four males. That surprised me.

So far so good but 12 is a lot to survive. One of them is a BRUTE. He latched on a nipple as hasn't let go since. I guess a fella works up quite an appitite sliding out the exit.

Had a beagle when I was a kid that had 13 and they all made it..she was a wreck when they got big enough to get away from her. My brother and I had one inside playing with it and she tore through the screen door, came in, grabbed it and took it back out to her dog house. Once they were all gone..I swear..she spent two weeks looking for them. I want some pics posted soon!

Jackpot! The coins just kept coming. Ding, ding, ding! Do you think you'll pay for her training?

Ken

If all goes well the training costs we invested in Cassie will be recovered. Lots between here and that point though.

Hot Dog you might have hit the magic number! Lets count 12 Pups, 12 nipples, mabe no hand feeding! Cool good on ya mate!

Congratulations Eric and Cassie! Glad to hear all went well, besides the missed sleep!

If we were ready to get a dog for my daughter I'd be getting on the list for one of the pups. The only thing is, I told my daughter that we won't have any more animals around here 'til her cat is gone(it's 16, I'm counting the days!). Shes been pestering me for a white rat and rabbits, "No more rodents around here! The mice in the basement are enough!". Now she won't go down in the basement!

Congrats!

Timing is great! Cassie oughtta be up and at 'em for the season. You're looking for performance homes, right? I had a guy inquire about a 'family quality' dog over the weekend.

Jim, you might be counting a lot of days. My first cat lived to 23. His mother to 26.

The first priority is making sure the pups will go to homes where they will be one of the family. That is the most important thing. The owners should be aware though these dogs are born to run and need stimulation. We'd like them to go to the homes of hunters and people who will run them in hunt tests or field trials but the most important thing is they be a home that will take good care of them.

I figured with a litter size like that (12!!!! - Jeez!), you might be OK with letting them go to 'pet quality' households. I'll let Webb know.

Bill,

Now ya just had to go and pee in my Cheerios didn't ya?! Here I was hoping we'd be looking for a dog for Catie to raise and train soon! I guess it's just as well the cat lives for a while anyway, she said she wants a ....... Chessie. Hey Lee! Any good deals on 2X4's if we call them "Training Equipment"? (insert smiley face here)

Ok, now that I've pissed of the Chessie crowd, I'm just joking! Dad's had one for years, he's almost as good as the two goldens that have owned me. (stick another annoying smiley face here)
