Purchased a spokeshave today , nice shape & research has shown the co. Was in Galt Ontario, early 1800,s to early 1900s then closed shop. Will be using this one soon!

You will really enjoy using that drawknife. I have a very similar one with handles that fold in over the blade, and then lock into place. They are indeed master craftsmen made works of functional art.

Sweet. Yours looks ready to use. I've started going to estate sales and picked up a couple draw knives too. They need some work but I enjoy cleaning up old stuff. In fact I bought one last week made by Reliance and found out that makes it at least 130 years old.

Don't mean to hijacking the thread, but any recommendations on a contemporary spokeshave and Drawknife.

I'm in the market to purchase both tools, any help would be great. (or brands to stay away from)

For spokeshaves I highly recommend Dave's Shaves. I was thinking my draw knife came from Cape Forge, but I don't see them on their website now. I'll double check it when I get home.

Hi Chuck, I have a lee Valley spokeshave & draw knife ,like them both but I don,t have the knowledge as some of the others here who I,m sure have a lot more experience with these tools .
All the Best John
