Year 3 on the camp project. There are days when I wonder just what exactly did we get done or do this year on the camp. Days when you work all day but from a pictorial view, not much has changed....so it's not always about the pictures, but in looking back over the pictures taken since this past spring, we did accomplish a lot as weekend or one day a week warriors. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Our bird season open this Saturday so the tools selected will change drastically.

Here, I was clearing where the power line would be extended down to my lot.

Place looks great, a lot of thought went into the place. The ground looks good for digging. How long since you started?
Troy, hunted up your way 69-70. Rented a camp at East Carry Pond, then we built a camp in north anson. A lot of good years, but the guys got older and didn't want to travel. We sold it to one of the guys and never really used it again. Wasn't really worth a lot in the early 70's.
The lack of deer was a big factor. Was a great area, lots to see, mills, farms, great gun shops and the Dexter shoe factory. All the guys were in the trades and bought up a lot of seconds for work.

Looks great! We'll be going to Rangeley for the first time this year for partridge. Been going to eagle lake for years, but a long haul from CT. Certainly looks nicer than I'm what I'm used to being in a camp!
 
Hi Rich, Thanks. I purchased the land late in 2017 and started clearing the lot in the spring of 2018. We got the shell up that year and have been going along since. Rangeley is still very much an outdoors paradise. Here is one of the does I saw up there last weekend.

That's some nice camp Troy. All the better that you built it with your family. You'll get a lot of satisfaction from that, like building yourself a duckboat x 10.

I'm heading to the Greenville area for birds Saturday, and I think ducks open Monday. Yahoo! My wife did the covid quarantine there all summer, she walks the dog 4-5 miles every day and has never seen so many birds. The dog approved as well. [smile] Naturally that's in an area where we can't hunt but it's a good sign.
 
Thanks for the write-up, I looked though the photos last night, but I wanted to sit down and take a good look on the big monitor with a cup of coffee this morning. That looks great, you should be really happy with what you have and thanks for taking the time to bring us along.

I can tell a lot of thought and planning has gone into your cabin, not to mention many many hours whenever you can scrape them up. It's not easy keeping at a large scale project that runs over years. But the results are telling. Tell your dad nice work on the doors. He obviously knows a thing or two about woodworking and craftsmanship.

Question, is this cabin anywhere near your seaduck grounds and going to be used for your guide service? I'm thinking not but noticed the sign.
