Regrets...

Eric Patterson contacted me today and it caused me to think how much I've neglected interacting on this forum. So many great people. My apologies for my negligence. Totally my loss. My commitment for 2024 is to be a contributor and re-establish some lost relationships.

Pat,
I am glad to see your posting again. I was just wondering about you the other day and if you were still carving at the same prolific rate as before. I should had sent a text to find out.
I should be able to start showing some work again soon. Life got in the way but I still think about painting birds often.

Glad to see you're still around. I've been wondering how the hunting on the Illinois River was this year?

Great to see some folks stepping up. This site is the best of the best of artists and craftsmen (and lady.). We need fresh blood and renewed enthusiasm after losing so many of the old guard.

Exactly. The best way to do that is to recruit and keep posting better content than other platforms. The younger generation does not read forums and are glued to social media for their duck hunting interests. But I know from that population there is a subset of cohorts that would really take a liking to this place and become active members. The trick is recruitment. It's so damn hard to get them to leave FB and IG for anything different. They will likely never find us on their own. If everyone would just recruit a little and point people here for answers to their questions we'd grow. If you see someone that looks like a good fit simply ask them to join. I know for a fact some of the folks here today are here because someone saw their content elsewhere and reached out to them. A personal invite is a great tool. Or if there is a name you don't see around any more drop them a note and say, "Hey, we miss you, stop by." It's not hard, it just take a few minutes of effort. Anyone belong to a fraternity in college? It's nothing but rush for duck hunters.

Was thinking about you the other day. I was up in the attic geting my goose decoys down and ran across a rig of six mallards you carved and sold on the forum. You were offering them as singles or a complete rig. I bought the rig. You indicated they were used to film an outdoor show. I would like to know the backstory on them sometime. ESPN outdoors maybe?

Always liked hearing what you were up to, look forward for that happening again. Seeing what you've made lately.
