Run on Zack Taylor's Successful Waterfowling at Amazon

In a previouos post I asked for help in finding information and plans for a Zack Boat, and duckboat.net members came through like gangbusters, recommending the book Successful Waterfowling by Zack Taylor as a resource.

I was at work yesterday, so couldn't complete the Amazon order, but since I found roughly 20 used and 4 or 5 new ones offered, I didn't worry about getting one. Some of the used ones were as cheap a $5, while a new one was listed for $192. When I went to order a cheaper used one today, there were only 11 used ones still available, starting at $35. If you are looking for this book, and hesitating, the numbers are dwindling and the prices are going up! I suspect that when duckboat.net members saw the $192 price tag for a new one, and found used ones for under $20, they went on a buying spree snapping the used ones up...........

This site can be a powerful economic engine for individuals and companies who offer waterfowling stuff that the members recommend and endorse..............based on my post and the recommendations posted by other members, I'd guess at least 12 copies of Successful Waterfowling were sold by Amazon.com vendors to duckboat.net readers....

You can also try ABE books, which is a clearinghouse of booksellers around the country. I have gotten several older titles through them.

Mike,

It's really just a cycle...did duckboats have a role? Probably, but there are enough copies out there that there will be more coming on the market. This is a fine example of why we don't allow Craigslist, Ebay or other ads/auctions to be linked here. Eric has literally seen bargins he has hunted long and hard for vanish on him.

Chuck got real pissy with me when I posted a link to a Craigslist add that had a bunch of old sewing stuff on a cross stitch forum my wife likes cause he had his eye on the same add for some "decoy supplies"

Paul

I'd delete the link in your other post, but I'm trying to figure the significance of an expired auction of a spokeshave to the topic at hand...I'm all for a good thread derailment, but I'm clueless where you are going with that one.

As for the "decoy making supplies", let's just say I don't hold grudges, but I do keep score...

Chuck

PS for those looking for Zack's book or other out of print books, I'll cast my vote for alibris.com

Man..........You guys are makin' me feel good, as I've had my copy since 1983. Ya also may want to check out American Duck, Goose & Brant Shooting by Dr. William Bruette 1929.
Chapters 8 thru 12, cover classic duck boats, even how to build a Sink Box. That one has been in my library a long time as well, bought it at the Westlake show yaers ago.........
Back in the day there were many quality book dealers, selling books at very fair prices. VERY FEW book dealers left, and thats a damn shame if ya ask me.

Sorry chuck ( for the bad link, not for anything I said). Link was supposed to be to Abe books.
