SeaDucking Photos

Seaduck hunting has always been an interest of mine since I first read about it my first season hunting. I have yet to make it out to try it myself. But hope to get to go sometime soon. Figured since it is the down season for everyone (waterfowl season closed). Some of you may be willing to share some photos of past hunts. Anyone care to share some Seaduck hunting photos?

Gary, check out Jeff Coats website pitbosswaterfowl.com. Not only is he a guide but a fantastic photographer.

Here's one I like from an oldsquaw hunt last year.

Sorry they are pile pic intensive, my brother shoots a high end canon camera so I don't take too many of birds or scenery any more, and my old computer burnt up with the old ones I did have.

I was hoping to find a better shot but this will have to do. Sea ducks are my fall back plan when it's to nasty for divers (local phenomenon, not a normal statement)... thus the camera doesn't often make the trip.

This is my son checking out the days take. He normally gets to go along but didn't because of the high winds this day.

what breakwater, light, is that?

Was that this year in the deep freeze?

Wicked cold looking.......wicked.....cold.....

Steve,

That light appears to be the one between Boston Harbor and Quincy Harbor. And yes it looks typically cold. Better dress warmly because that is one cold spot.

John, that looks like an Adam Smith hunt "perfect limit". The reason I say that is the picture of downtown Boston appears top be from the breakwater off of Revere beach. That is exactly where I bag most of my sea ducks.

The raft of eiders above stretched for over a mile......this is one end, and if you followed it to the left, you couldn't see the other end.

The picture below is about twenty-five years old. It was taken on a small island in Casco Bay, Maine. The decoys in the picture were part of a sixty-five decoy sea duck rig that I made for myself. Most of the decoys were carved in the "classic" Maine style of decoy making. Since I hunted sea ducks along the Maine coast, it seemed appropriate. I don't have any of those decoys left; I sold them all years ago.

Chaps, there are some amazing photos there, really enjoying looking through them. Looks like a number of you had good seasons. Keith your eider rafts always amaze me. Thanks for sharing all. Paul

I have a question for you Atlantic Coast guys. There seem to be a lot more photos being atken of Harliquins along the aestern US coast. Are you fellows seeing more of these over the last few years? Perhaps there might be an upswing in the population?

Steve - Yep......that is the lighthouse between Boston and Quincy

Adam is a Sponsor of our website so we try to hunt with him every other year. He asked us to come out and take tons of pics for a website he is trying to develop.
