Sealing Silos?

Just got done cutting out my brant silos for my V-boards using luan, since they will spend alot of time in the water im sure they should be sealed before i paint them. I was just wondering what would be the best saeler to use that i can paint over?

I used 3/8" plywood with mine, just painted them, making sure to saturate the end grain. Never had a problem.
