Nice job on the boat Rich
Looks like it will work great on the river or GSB
I always like seeing some local boats

Rich~

Neat boat - with a nice grass job!

Yours looks new - are they made currently (brochure looks like it's from the days of the typewriter....) ? And your partner's rig is a South Bay Scooter, correct?

BTW: I used to live in East Patchogue ('87 - '94).

Have a great season,

SJS

The boat is a 1988 as is the 14hp evinrude. I bought it from the original owner. I did some research, the company was sold to SouthBAy duck boats in 1988. They only used the canoe molds the guy had. Also its the same mold as the Marsh Hawk duck boat a few members on here have. Its basically a pregnant SouthBAy bigger cockpit and a little taller. I almost sold it a few weeks ago for financial reasons but could not let it go its a great boat and yes I hunt in the Great South Bay.

rich, nice boat i bought the mold for that boat many years ago. i had it in storage. the guy sold it when he closed down. i pulled it out of storage and layed up a few boats for friends under the name marsh hawk. i still have mold with changes to original boat. i am building a boat with south bay hull and marsh hawk top. calling it the ugly duckling just finished grass rail, rub rail and flaps yesterday also motor board. it will shoot three. good luck with your boat, rick

Sounds like a great concept Rick, be sure to post a photo of it once its finished I'm anxious to see how it turns out. How long is the new boat going to be for three hunters to fit? I picked up one of these boats a few months ago and can't wait to get out on the marsh this year.

great pics of the boats and a lot of neat info on the boat. Remember the old National Decoy show in Huntington years ago and saw my first Southbay there... I finally found one years ago and after years of sitting in the yard, I restored it with the help of Chris G and his dad. Retired my Jersey duck boat years ago as the cockpit shrunk a little.
This site has helped me and alot of other duckboat hunters. Met alot of good people also... Keep up the posts...
