have any of you used a series of y boards, interconnected or randomly dispersed, while layout hunting instead of long lines?? or is that an impractical idea

It works like a charm george!! You can single rig the V-boards or run them with clips and a mother line. You just need to spread them out further than 'regular' decoys on the line.

Shermie, the GE spread looks great! Nice job!

Josh, all the silos look nice but love the brant. I will have to get a couple of those from you.

You can definitely long line the V boards. We have for geese and for divers. Makes it much quicker to pick up a large rig and saves a ton of space and weight in the boat.

what type of material are you maiking the silho's out of?

george mine are made of 1/4 inch plywood ,used car paints for the heads of males[spray bombs] and outdoor house paint for the rest ,i have a small air compresser now and will get a small air brush for future paintjobs.

note i drilled an extra hole in the stablizer arm of the Yboard and put in an extra screw ,as im known for not being to kind to decoys by times especialy since the quicker there in in minus degree temps the quicker i get into me truck and off the bay brrrrr I have in the past long lined 3 dozen goose floaters on 2 main lines and had them all in the boat less then 15 minutes ,was some nice to get into the truck that day as we got soaked comin in against the wind and waves we were soaked and ice crusted my jacket can stand buy itself today fer salt into the fabric, will have to hang out in the spring rains i geusslol
