Where can a person find plans for making a sinkbox ? Any pictures and plans would be welcome, I've heard a few old guys talk about them and have yet to see one. Thanks Dani

I seem to remember going through google and finding a link through Canada. there was a time I guess when they were able to hunt them as the photo I saw was from the 60's or seventies.

I understand they are still legal in Canada.Read an article not long ago.A google search may turn some ideas up.I have a Iron decoy, that has been made into a boot scrapper,
once used to hold down the flaps on a sinkbox.

yup we still use them up here there are alot of different types there are jack ups which you raise and lower with the tide ,or a plain ol plywood box sunk in the flats or a steel tub or concrete , most tubs are plywood version, they dont move unless storm takes em out you have to bail them out everytime you use them ,except some fellas use pumps to pump them out ,believe me even in minus 20C weather with a 5 gallon pail you are plenty warm emptying them.there usualy big enough Just for 2 guys .

the jack ups are for open water in shallows bays that would be exposed at low tide but you can hunt the high by just jackin yourself up to the water level ,yup a big enough wave and your swimin but most have floatation pods on the sides to prevent this...

its a box inside of a box the inner box is raised and lowered with cables ,some use chains with catches, the inner box usualy doesnt come completely out of the outer box, some use cable winchs like the the round about one for brining your boat up on the trailer. ,you simply raise and lower it to follow the tide up and down ,mind you ,you must place the tub in an area where the tide favors the use of this type ,usualy along a bar next to a big eel grass feeding grounds. they use them here for geese mostly, i will try and get a fella i know who hunts them to take some pics for ya ,no promises tho they are always shootin so pics are not taken most times...but i will try...

If they are attached to the bottom they are legal here too. They just can't be floating and only anchored.

It would be pretty sweet to hunt from one of them.

most of the tubs here are just that" tubs" 4x8 boxes or smaller with extensive underground shelves to pile on the rock for the conter weight so they dont pop when its empty and you are in it ...and they are little islands ill see if i can find a link for ya to look at the tubs ,,,,

i tried but the darn things you cant make them out even tho i know what they look like its no use to anyone to see a square hole in the ocean or bay the pics were takin at high tide more visible at low tide a square hole surround by tons of rock heaped on it to keep it in the ground
hunted them many a time if the burds are there tendin its cool they land right on ya once shot a big 17lber not 10 feet flyin by me she was the lead goos eand the rest just landed in with her and never left all 5 were yummy...
