I still need to fill, sand, glass, paint, oh and attach the motor mount, but it's built:)
I'm having alot of fun working on this boat. I only wish I had started earlier. The temp is dropping pretty quickly in Barrie, and my garage is too small to do the fiberglass in.

JimG was right about the plans I chose to use; much is left to the imagination of the builder. I modified the backend, adding a foot of decked area. I didnt want the motor in my back, plus I like the shape more this way. This brought the length of my boat to 13 feet.

Giles,
It is looking very nice indeed. Hope you can get it ready before season closes, but that may be a challenge. It should do well for you.

You're right, I might be out of time for getting the boat in the water this season. We are going up north for grouse next week, so that weekend is shot.

Nice! I have a set of those plans, but didnt like how the transom/motor set up was, either...Great job on the extension!

Giles,
Really nice boat, I like the lines and hope
you have many seasons of fun with it.
What color are you painting her?
William

Funny you should ask about the color. I'm having no luck finding duckboat paint in my area. I'm in Barrie Ontario. The marine shop near me has planty of high gloss white and bright blue, lol.

I dont know if you want to take this advice but i have had great luck just getting my own colors mixed up at the hardware store. I cant think of the brand name that i used but the paint was for basement floors or high-traffic areas, so you know it sticks well, which i can vouch for. I used the paint that was marketed as "camo paint" and it was terrible. It would bubble and peel and scratch off so easy that i was constantly touching it up. Total waste of money in my eyes. So i would recommend that you find the color you like and take it down to the hardware store and have them mix you up a batch. I'm sure there's a few guys that'll tell you different but i've painted 5 boats this way and i have not had a a single problem with any of them. One of the 5 boat was painted 3 years ago and it still looks great. The only places that show some wear are where the boat rubs on the guide-ons on the trailer.
Either way, good luck and great looking boat! Cant wait to see the finished product.

Not sure if you get down to Vaughn Mills Bass pro but they do sell Parkers there in a few colours,,,,Chuck

I am planing on building that exact design, by William Jackson. More pics please):>) and Let me know how it performs.

Pat, have you hunted out of yours yet and if so, how does it perform? Did you make any changes to the plans? What was difficult about your build that you can warn the rest of us about?

Did you have problems with the built up scheer in the bow . I found it to be a pain in the ass Yes, I found that even tracing the curve from underneath didnt work at all. It was total trial and error. I still need to find time to glass the boat. Been too busy hunting and working.

Nice job! I've buil 5 of these over the last few years. Sold or donated them to DU for fundraisers. The last one went to Virgina Waterfowlers Association. Mine are rated for 370 lbs and a 7,5 hp motor. I've never used a rear deck but I really like the way yours turned out.

Jim, I build my transom from a doubled thickness of 3/4 inch marine ply. You can't knock it out with a sledge hammer.

Gilles, if you want to see how the boat will look with diffeent paint colors. I think i have pics of 3 different colors I can post if it will help.
