So, THIS happened today....

After an amazing morning hunting, made our way back to the ramp. Noticed a LOT of women's clothing in the wrack-line. Knowing that another duck hunter had found a dead woman yesterday, we investigated. Decided to call the police. A nice dispatcher asked me to look into the "purse" I found. The purse turned out to be a velvet bag containing the cremated remains of some guy. Was told to leave it and wait for the police.

Policeman finally showed up, made some snarky comment about be being muddy and "told" me to retrieve the bag for him. I looked him in the eyes and asked. "Do they say please where you're from". Stunned from someone not willing to accept rudeness..he shuddered. Then let fly with a "please". Happily, I retrieved the bag/box/remains and went home.

Man-o-man do I love our sport!!!!

Damn, not what you expect on a duck hunt. Did they send out any one else to investigate more?

Wow Mike,I live in Connecticut also and have wondered at times if I would happen upon a body in the Ct river or marshes while duck hunting.Seem to hear about that now and then.

Years ago I had a DEC officer check me every other day for the week. Last day he pulled up as I was about 30 yards out going to the blind. Hey You he called, I left my gun and bag and went to the car. Very politely I addressed him and explained to him I was not Hey You and he worked for me and will be treated so. After I was checked, I asked for his badge # and supervisors name and #.
Made my phone call later and all was settled. Was a visiting officer forced to be here for opening week. I have a great respect for them as a whole, but one apple was sour.
I hope one person didn't sour you. Have alot of friends in law enforcement...

Capt. Rich,

Nope, not soured at all. I treat everyone as best I can until treated otherwise. I think the officer was just used to treating folks like they'd done something wrong. I was raised proper and know manners go a LONG way to bridging gaps between folks. I think I just embarrassed him a bit and hopefully he'll remember not everyone he meets is against him.

I appreciate everyone that puts on a badge and protects us!!

Where abouts was that?

A buddy we hunt/fish with found a body below glastonbury while fishing two summers ago.

When we shock some small streams in or around the bigger cities i always thought we would find one. I think they found one in the pike marsh in haddam a few years back too. You never know what you will find in the ct river.

Just remember if you see a matching pair of shoes going down river something is probably attached

Chris,

Coastal marsh near an airport. We like hunting there because all the flight traffic scares the birds away and shooting doesn't interrupter our drinking....
