Well, the weekend didn't end on a high note like we thought but we managed to kill these plus another bluebill, specklebelly goose, and a few mergansers. Once I got home I figured I'd do a shot on my new trailer (got it's first mud on it) and some of the decoys we used on the hunt. The bluebills are cork with basswood heads and the pintail is a Jason Russell bird carved several years ago that he loaned me for the season. I was looking poking around in his shop one day and he said he rarely (if ever) used it so I told him I would kill a pintail over it. I lied... as it only made one hunt this season but pintails eat with mallards and teal so we got some of his cousins.
